Hempura CBD Capsules

Hempura CBD capsules are made of full-spectrum CBD and contain no artificial preservatives, no GMOs and no pesticides. As such, their CBD capsules have all the other all-natural hemp extracts such as CBDv (Cannabidivarin), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBT (Cannabicitran), as well as the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, and Omega acids. They also contain trace amounts of THC.

Their CBD capsules focus on maximising the entourage effect – a physiological phenomenon wherein the properties of active hemp compounds appear to be more powerful when consumed together rather than by themselves individually – through the preservation of synergy between the plants cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids.

Their Hemp is grown in Europe and they are one of the only companies in our Top 10 CBD brands to use ethanol extraction process to produce their CBD oils and CBD capsules.

Hempura is registered with The Vegan Society since July 2019 and is committed to securing the safety of animals and the preservation of the environment by not testing their products on animals and using recyclable materials.

Hempura full-spectrum CBD capsules are vegan friendly, gluten-free, organic, GMO free, lab tested and contains less than 0.2% THC (the legal limit in the UK), ensuring you get the purest CBD possible.

Hempura offers full-spectrum CBD capsules and has made a clear commitment to minimize their impact on the environment by using eco-friendly packaging made from recycled materials!

Whilst Hempura have been in business since 2017, they have managed to develop quite a large range of products, first by focusing on full-spectrum and broad-spectrum oils, and then adding new product lines such as CBD capsules, CBD chocolates or CBD vapes.

Their CBD capsules are perfect if you do not like the taste of CBD oil or if you would prefer not to take CBD by using the dropper pipette and leaving the oil under the tongue, as you will be able to experience all the benefits of CBD without the downsides of CBD oil.

They only offer a single size and strength for their CBD capsules, so each 300mg box contains 30 capsules each packed with 10mg of full-plant spectrum CBD and rich in natural hemp terpenes.

Choosing capsules is a great way to get your CBD intake and it’s incredibly travel friendly, the ideal solution for those who are always on the go.

As with other Hempura CBD products, their capsules contain no pesticides, herbicides, solvents or chemical fertilizers, they are sourced from organically grown, non-GMO, pesticide-free hemp plants that have been grown in the EU. They have also been lab tested for potency and purity.

Price wise, you can get their 10mg capsules (30 capsules per box) for £19.99, which means £0.06 per mg of CBD so a similar price to their CBD oil.

Hempura CBD Capsules Efficacy

After testing their 1000mg Full-Spectrum CBD oil (10% concentration with organic hemp seed oil carrier) earlier this year, we were pleasantly surprised by how good their CBD oil is, so we were looking forward to try their CBD capsules.

As Hempura CBD capsules come in a single strength, the choice was easy so we went for a box of their 300mg CBD capsules which contain 30 individual capsules, each packed with a 10mg of CBD. The low CBD dosage of the capsules makes it perfect for people who have not used CBD before as well as those who have been taking CBD for a long time.

A box of their 300mg CBD capsules contain 30 individual capsules, each made from natural ingredients and full-spectrum cannabis extract, which means they contain all the other all-natural hemp extracts such as Cannabidiol (CBD), Cannabidiolic acid (CBDa), CBDv (Cannabidivarin), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBT (Cannabitriol), as well as all of the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, and Omega acids. They also contain trace amounts of THC and therefore benefit from the full entourage effect.

During our week-long test, we took 20mg of CBD in the morning on an empty stomach (2 x 10mg capsules), followed by 10mg (1 x 10mg capsule) at lunchtime and a further 10mg (1 x 10mg capsule) an hour before bedtime, giving us a total of 40mg of CBD per day.

So how well did Hempura full-spectrum CBD capsules perform?

Hempura CBD Capsules for Pain Relief

Whilst a number of brands we have tested and reviewed in our best UK CBD capsules have performed better than Hempura, their 10mg CBD capsules have proven to have good analgesic (i.e. to relieve pain) and anti-inflammatory properties.

The capsules are easily swallowed with a glass of water (or beverage of your choice), but unlike CBD oil which is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream, they have to go through the digestive track and therefore take a little longer to get to work. On average, the effects of their CBD capsules are felt 45min to 60min after taking them, which isn’t ideal if you are looking for a fast acting CBD product.

By taking 2 CBD capsules (20mg) immediately after a tough workout in the morning (on an empty stomach), and one additional capsule (10mg of CBD) around lunchtime, I have experienced an improvement of my arthritic symptoms and reduction of my pain levels. Whilst one of the downsides of their CBD oil is that it tends to wear off rather quickly, which forced me to increase my CBD intake, this wasn’t the case with their CBD capsules. This may simply be down to the fact that they take longer to be broken down by the digestive system.

I was able to remain active throughout the week I took their CBD capsules and even on days where I increased my physical activity, I was able to perform with little to no discomfort.

Immediately after I stopped taking Hempura 10mg CBD capsules at the end of the week long product test, I noticed that my hip slowly started to be painful and stiff again, especially first thing in the morning and after my daily workout. After two or three days of not taking their CBD capsules, the pain and discomfort were back during the day and my sleep was disrupted due to the pain, which clearly shows that their CBD capsules work.

Hempura CBD Capsules for Sleep & Stress

So how did their CBD capsules perform when it comes to improving sleep and reducing stress?

CBD is known to interact with specific receptors, specifically the CB1R and CB2R. CB1 receptors co-ordinate mood, emotion, appetite, and other functions. While CB2 receptors are responsible for controlling inflammation and pain. CBD stimulates these receptors and induces the body to release serotonin.

Serotonin, or 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter that carries signals from one neuron to the other. CBD increases the level of serotonin, which, in return, helps relieve stress and other medical conditions.

By taking their CBD capsules, I have found that my overall stress levels came down, and it’s also allowed me to fall asleep faster in the evening.

So if insomnia, stress or anxiety are impacting your daily life, I would highly recommend you check out Hempura CBD capsules.

Hempura CBD Capsules Value for Money

So how does Hempura CBD capsules perform when it comes to value for money?

A person between 150 and 240 lbs may need between 20mg and 40mg of CBD per day depending on the severity of their symptoms. A bottle of their 300mg CBD capsules (retail: £19.99) contain 30 individual capsules that will last between 7.5 and 15 days and cost between £1.33 and £2.66 per day, which is quite sensibly priced when compared to other CBD capsules on the market.

However the one advantage Hempura has is that their capsules contain 10mg of CBD, which is a low enough dosage to ensure they are suitable for CBD beginners and those taking larger amounts of CBD on a daily basis.

Based on 20mg of CBD per day, here’s how the best CBD capsules stack-up in terms of daily cost:

CBD (mg) Price Daily Cost
Honest Hemp 30 x 25mg £39.99 £1.06
Medterra 30 x 25mg £40.98 £1.09

Hempura 30 x 10mg £19.99 £1.33
Naturecan 30 x 10mg £19.99 £1.33
Provacan 30 x 24mg £49.99 £1.39
Four Five CBD 60 x 10mg £50.00 £1.67
Endoca 30 x 10mg £26.00 £1.73
Holistic Hemp 30 x 15mg £50.00 £2.22

Advantages of Hempura CBD Capsules

Hempura CBD capsules have many advantages over other CBD products such as CBD oil or CBD gummies.

  • Easy to use and discreet – CBD capsules are incredibly easy to use as it is essentially the same as taking vitamin pills. It is one of the most inconspicuous way to get your daily dose of CBD as all you have to do is swallow a capsule with a glass of water.
  • Precise dosage – Dosage couldn’t be easier and more precise than with CBD capsules, as each pill contain an exact amount of CBD (e.g. 10mg per capsule). Unlike CBD oil, you do not need to count how many drops you need to take.
  • No nasty aftertaste – Whilst CBD oils tend to have a very earthy or grassy taste, CBD capsules are simply swallowed and do not have any taste at all. For that reason, they are an excellent alternative to CBD oils who often have a strong aftertaste.
  • A great alternative – For people who do not like to put CBD oil under their tongue or for those who do not want to consume additives such as sugar present in CBD gummies, CBD capsules are a great alternative as you simply need to swallow them and do not have to chew or leave the oil under your tongue as you would with gummies or CBD oil.
  • No addictive or withdrawal issues – Finally, CBD capsules are a natural remedy that can be taken by almost anyone and possesses none of the addictive or withdrawal issues that other pain management or anxiety medications may present.

Disadvantages of Hempura CBD Capsules

Whilst there are quite a few advantages to getting your daily dose of CBD using Hempura CBD capsules, there are unfortunately several drawbacks which are worth considering.

  • Less bioavailable – the term bioavailability stands for the proportion of a drug or substance which reaches the systemic circulation. By definition, when a substance is administered intravenously, its bioavailability is 100%. However, when the same substance is administered via other routes (e.g. mouth), its bioavailability is generally lower than that of intravenous due to the fact that it needs to go through the intestines and digestion process. For that reason, CBD oil is more bioavailable than CBD capsules as it comes into contact with the sublingual gland (under the tongue) which speeds up the process of absorption and quickly enters the bloodstream.
  • Not fast acting – another problem with CBD capsules is that they are not as fast acting as CBD oil seeing as it will take some time to be processed and broken down by your digestive system. So seeing as the faster the CBD is absorbed, the sooner it can get to work, CBD capsules will usually take between 30-60 minutes to act when CBD oil takes less than 20 minutes.
  • Interaction with other medications – It’s also worth noting that CBD may make it harder for your body to process certain medications, so if you are taking any other medications, be sure to check with your GP before taking CBD products.
  • Minor side effects – Finally, CBD can cause side effects in some people including drowsiness, changes in mood, nausea, and changes in appetite. Every individual will be affected differently, and in most cases, there are no side effects to worry about.

Hempura CBD Capsules Dosage

CBD capsules are similar to vitamin or supplement pills and as such can be taken in the same way.

Each capsule contains a precise amount of CBD – usually between 10mg and 50mg of CBD per capsule – and as such can be stronger than a single drop of CBD oil, so be sure to check the strength or your capsules and your ideal dosage before taking them.

How Much CBD Should I Consume?

When using CBD capsules for the first time, we would always recommend starting with a small dose and working your way up. Most people will start with a 5mg to 10mg capsules taking 1 at a time, preferably in the morning on an empty stomach to see how your body reacts to it.

If you are not seeing any major benefits with a single capsule, increase your intake by an additional capsule every 3-5 days until finding the right balance to treat your personal symptoms.

As a rule of thumb, a person weighting between 10.5 and 17 stones (approximately 150 and 240 lbs) may need between 20mg and 40mg of CBD per day depending on the severity of their symptoms.

How Many CBD Capsules Should I Take?

Whilst it may be confusing at the beginning, it’s incredibly simple to work out how many CBD capsules you need to eat depending on your daily requirements and the strength of the product you bought. Most CBD capsules contain between 5mg of CBD and 50mg of CBD.

So assuming you need to hit 25mg of CBD per day you will need:

CBD / Capsule Capsules / Day
5mg 5 capsules
10mg 2-3 capsules
25mg 1 capsule

If however you are trying to hit 50mg of CBD per day, you will need:

CBD / Capsules Capsules / Day
5mg 10 capsules
10mg 5 capsules
25mg 2 capsules
50mg 1 capsule

Assuming that you are trying to hit 50mg of CBD per day and use 5mg CBD capsules, you could break this down throughout the day and take 4 capsules in the morning on an empty stomach, 3 capsules early afternoon and 3 capsules in the evening.

As with everything, start with a small amount of CBD daily to make sure there’s no reaction, then increase slowly by a drop every 1-2 days until finding the right balance.

Hempura CBD Capsules Lab Reports

As a CBD company, Hempura plays the transparency card with their customers and is a member of The Vegan Society since July 2019 and is committed to securing the safety of animals and the preservation of the environment by not testing their products on animals and using recyclable materials.

Since many CBD products contain pesticides, herbicides, mould, fungi and dangerous mycotoxins, Hempura are working closely with British Cannabis, a dedicated testing facility in the South East of England, to test all their CBD oils.

In addition to being sourced and extracted from the highest-grade certified organic EU hemp, they guarantee that their products are 100% organic and free of synthetic ingredients.

They allow customers to see their Certificates of Analysis online by entering the relevant batch number into their search bar. Each lab report then breaks down the potency of cannabinoids, the presence of terpenes and flavonoids, as well as the absence of heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides or microbes.

Below is an example of their certificate of analysis for their 250mg CBD oil, but certificates for their CBD capsules are also available on their site

Health Benefits of Hempura CBD Capsules

The human body contains a specialized system called the ECS (the endocannabinoid system), which aim is to regulate a variety of functions such as sleep, appetite, pain and immune system response. The body also produces endocannabinoids, which are simply neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system.

CBD is believed to interact with specific receptors, specifically the CB1R and CB2R.

  • CB1 receptors, which are located in various regions of the body, with a large concentration in the central nervous system and brain, co-ordinate mood, emotion, appetite, and other functions.
  • CB2 receptors are more commonly found in the immune system and are responsible for controlling inflammation and pain. CBD stimulates these receptors and induces the body to release serotonin.

Serotonin, or 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter that carries signals from one neuron to the other. CBD increases the level of serotonin, which, in return, helps reduce pain, reduce inflammation as well as provide a range of other health benefits, which include:

  • CBD for Pain Relief: CBD has analgesic (pain relief) properties and can help with many painful conditions such as arthritis, headache disorders, migraines, back pain or period pain.
  • CBD for Sleep: CBD has a calming effect on both the mind and the body, allowing people to fall asleep more easily and stay asleep throughout the night.
  • CBD for Stress: CBD helps reduce stress and calm both the body and mind, through its interaction with both the Hippocampus and the Amygdala.
  • CBD for Anxiety: CBD has both anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties, and can be a great alternative to anxiety medications which have known side-effects.
  • CBD for Headaches: CBD reduces the frequency of headaches as well as reduce stress and improve sleep, two major triggers of headaches. But CBD also has strong analgesic (pain relief) and antiemetic (prevent vomiting) properties which can help people with headache disorders during an attack.
  • CBD for Arthritis: CBD has antiarthritic, analgesic (pain relief) as well as anti-inflammatory properties and as such is a great option for people suffering from arthritis.
  • CBD for Cancer: CBD helps relieve some of the symptoms of cancer as well as reducing the side of effects of cancer medication such as nausea, vomiting and pain.
  • CBD for Epilepsy: CBD helps reduce the frequency and intensity of seizures in epileptic patients, and may also counteract some of the side effects of traditional anti-epileptic.
