Canna Union was founded with the singular purpose of providing Europe with high-quality, fairly priced, hemp-derived CBD products. The CBD Unboxed Story
I founded CBD Unboxed because I suffer from bilateral femoroacetabular impingement (known as FAI), a painful condition in which extra bone grows on the head of the femur (hip joint), giving the bones an irregular shape.

Our Test: Canna Union 10% CBD Oil
The test carried out by the CBD Unboxed team focused on Canna Union CBD Oil 1000mg (10% concentration with cold press hempseed oil carrier), which contains all the natural hemp extracts such as Cannabidiol (CBD), CBDv (Cannabidivarin), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBT (Cannabitriol), as well as the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, omega acids and trace amounts of THC.
During our two-week product review, we took 20mg of CBD in the morning on an empty stomach, followed by 10mg at lunchtime and a further 10mg an hour before bedtime, giving us a total of 40mg of CBD per day.
Their products are all derived from organic hemp plants that are grown under the highest agricultural directives in the Europe and their products are made in Switzerland.

So how well did Canna Union full-spectrum CBD oil perform in our review?
Product Efficacy (8/10)
Good CBD Oil for Pain Relief
A number of studies have shown that CBD oil can reduce pain and inflammation via its interaction with the Endocannabinoid System as well as the CBD1 and CB2 receptors, and after using Canna Union CBD oil for a period of two weeks, it is fair to say that their product has robust analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties.
By simply taking 20mg of their CBD oil first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, an additional 10mg of CBD at lunchtime and 10mg of CBD an hour or so before bedtime, I was able to get on with my day without having to worry too much about hip pain or discomfort.
What I like about taking CBD oil instead of capsules or gummies is that by leaving the CBD oil under the tongue for 30-60 seconds, it gets absorbed much faster into the bloodstream – between 20 and 30 minutes on average – which means that it gets to work relatively quickly.
Their CBD oil is very good and can rival any of the best full-spectrum CBD oils and best broad-spectrum CBD oils! We may even need to update our rankings to include Canna Union in our Top 10.
Perfect for Stress & Sleep
Another reason why I like Canna Union CBD oil is that it also performs well when it comes to stress and sleep.
The week I reviewed their CBD oil, I had to do a speech in front of a large audience which can be very nerve wracking. But by taking their CBD oil 45min before my speech, I felt a lot calmer than usual. One could say that it’s a placebo, but I’ve experienced this quite a few times when taking CBD before doing public speaking and there’s plenty of research backing it’s efficacy for stress, anxiety and even depression.
What does the science say exactly?
CBD is known to interact with specific receptors, specifically the CB1R and CB2R. CB1 receptors co-ordinate mood, emotion, appetite, and other functions. While CB2 receptors are responsible for controlling inflammation and pain. CBD stimulates these receptors and induces the body to release serotonin.
Serotonin, or 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter that carries signals from one neuron to the other. CBD increases the level of serotonin, which, in return, helps relieve stress and can help you clam your mind, which in turns help you drift to sleep more easily.
So if your interested in taking CBD to improve sleep, stress or anxiety, I would highly recommend you check out their CBD oils.
Taste (8/10)
Whilst the most popular way to consume CBD is by using CBD tincture (oil), they often have a more earthy, nutty, woody or grass-like taste which is down to the fact the product is natural, safe, and non-toxic.
A Great Tasting Full-Spectrum Oil
The fist thing you will notice when opening the bottle is that their CBD oil is very light greenish colour and in our experience, a lighter coloured CBD oil is often a sign of a product that is slightly more palatable. And after our two weeks review, it is fair to say that Canna Union full-spectrum CBD oil is one of the most tasteless and odourless oils on the market. We’ve tried and tested over 100 CBD oils over the last few years and it has to be in the top 10% when compared to other full-spectrum oils when it comes to its flavour profile.
This may be down to the hemp plant used, the fact that they mix CBD extracts with a cold pressed hemp oil carrier or that they use a CO2 extraction process. Whatever it is, this CBD oil as a very nice flavour profile.
My only criticism would be the viscosity of the oil and how it feels in the mouth. It is slightly thicker than other CBD oils we’ve tried and tested, so whilst the flavour profile is nice, the feel of the oil in the mouth is not the best and for that reason, we cannot give Canna Union top mark here, but this shouldn’t take away from how good this CBD oil taste for a full-spectrum product.
Value for Money (10/10)
Where Canna Union does not disappoint is on its value for money. Not only has their CBD oil proven efficient for pain relief and has a nice flavour profile, but Canna Union have made a conscious effort to price their products fairly to make them available to as many people as possible.
A person between 150 and 240 lbs may need between 20mg and 40mg of CBD per day depending on the severity of their symptoms. A 10ml bottle of their 1000mg CBD oil (retail: £33.72) will therefore last between 25 and 50 days and cost between £0.67 and £1.34 per day (with free shipping), which makes it not only one of the most affordable CBD oils on the market, but also a bargain compared to the cost of a large coffee at your local coffee shop!

In terms of how it compares to other brands in our Top 10, we think that its definitely one of the most efficient products we’ve tried, the flavour profile is rather nice and it’s very-well priced. So for that reason, we think it is actually a really good product, especially if you suffer from a painful condition such as arthritis or if your focus is on sleep or recovery.

Farming (EU Hemp)
Like most CBD companies, Canna Union does not grow its own hemp and relies on hemp farmers who are specialised in CBD and THC producing plants, which unlike fibre hemp plants that are used for the textile industry, need to be planted at wider intervals and harvested by hand, which requires specific farming methods.
Their hemp is sourced from the EU and grown under the highest agricultural directives in those countries.
Why EU hemp?
Hemp requires around 20-30 inches of rainfall during it’s growing season, either from rainfalls or via modern irrigation methods, and whilst the plant is largely unaffected by low temperatures and can even withstand frost down to -5°C, the ideal growing temperatures for good quality hemp are between 19-25°C.
Europe is a big producer of hemp with France leading the charge, followed by Italy and the Netherlands.
Outside of Europe, the US is also a large producer of hemp with Montana, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina and Oregon being the 5 largest producers in the country. These five states are important location for hemp farming as they have the right regulations to grow hemp and the perfect climate.
For all these reasons, it makes the Europe a great location for Canna Union to source their hemp from.
Hemp Preparation & Extraction
Once the plants have been harvested they are stored in a warehouse and left to dry. The dry hemp is then turned into a coarse powder – similar to coffee grounds – through a milling process which follows the strict standards of the hemp farming industry.
At that point, the hemp powder is transferred to the manufacturing and processing facility where it is needs to go through an extraction and purification process in order to remove all unwanted compounds and which produce a high-quality hemp extract which can then be used in oils, capsules, gummies and other CBD products.
Unlike many CBD products available on the market that use hemp produced at an industrial rate under very high temperatures to speed up the extraction process, but which ultimately degrades the quality of the CBD extract, VAAY’s production method are clean and efficient as they use CO2 extraction.
Testing

Canna Union has developed one of the widest and most comprehensive range of CBD products. We love the fact that they offer CBD buds & flowers as very few of the brands in our Top 10 have focused on these types of products which can prove useful if you are suffering from a painful or debilitating condition and need fast relief.
Their full-spectrum CBD oil is very good and has robust analgesic properties (pain relief) although the slightly higher viscosity ratio makes it slightly less palatable.
