Alpinols CBD: Our Honest Review
Alpinols produce both full-spectrum and broad-spectrum CBD oil. Their full-spectrum CBD oils have all the natural hemp extracts such as Cannabidiol (CBD), CBDv (Cannabidivarin), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBT (Cannabicitran), as well as the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, and Omega acids. They also contain trace amounts of THC (less than 0.2% for their UK products), whilst their broad-spectrum CBD oils are 100% THC free.
All their CBD oils focus on maximising the entourage effect – a physiological phenomenon wherein the properties of active hemp compounds appear to be more powerful when consumed together rather than by themselves individually – through the preservation of synergy between the plants cannabinoids, terpenoids and flavonoids.
Their products are all derived from organic hemp plants that are cultivated according to Bio Suisse certified methods and their CBD extracts are produced using CO2 extraction, one of the cleanest extraction methods, resulting in a high-quality CBD oils. All their products are made in Switzerland.
Alpinols CBD oil is 100% organic and natural, gluten-free, GMO free and lab tested for purity and potency.

Alpinols CBD Review Score
Alpinols CBD has been officially tested by the CBD Unboxed team and products have not been gifted by the brand. As such, this review is 100% independent and based on our personal findings.
The CBD Unboxed Story
I founded CBD Unboxed because I suffer from bilateral femoroacetabular impingement (known as FAI), a painful condition in which extra bone grows on the head of the femur (hip joint), giving the bones an irregular shape.
Because they do not fit together perfectly, the bones rub against each other during movement. Over time this friction can damage the joint, causing pain and resulting in arthritis of the hip joint.
To manage my pain and to avoid relying on traditional painkillers which have known side effects, I turned to more natural products and found CBD to be a godsend. I have been using CBD for the past 5 years and want to share my experience, so you too can experience the health benefits of CBD which are wide ranging – from pain relief and improved sleep, to reduced anxiety and depression. If you want to find out more about how you could benefit from CBD, check out this article on the effects of CBD.
Our Review: Alpinols 10% Full-Spectrum CBD Oil
The test carried out by the CBD Unboxed team focused on their 1000mg full-spectrum CBD oil (10% concentration with organic sunflower seed oil carrier), instead of their flagship product Alpinols 25% Full-Spectrum 2500mg CBD Oil 10ml as our aim is to compare similar strength products and 10% concentration is more widely available in the UK.
Their full-spectrum oil contains all the natural hemp extracts, as well as the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, and Omega acids. Unlike their broad-spectrum CBD oils which can be used by athletes or those undergoing frequent drug tests, their full-spectrum CBD oil does contain trace amounts of THC.
During the two-week period, we took 20mg of CBD in the morning on an empty stomach, followed by 10mg at lunchtime and a further 10mg an hour before bedtime, giving us a total of 40mg of CBD per day.
The characteristics of their 10% full-spectrum CBD oil are detailed below.

So how well did Alpinols full-spectrum CBD oil perform in our review?
Product Efficacy (9/10)
Alpinols CBD is Excellent for Pain Relief
We were very keen to review Alpinols CBD as to our knowledge, their CBD oil is the only one on the market to be made 100% in Switzerland – from seed to oil.
So how did it compare to other CBD oils using extracts from hemp grown in the US or the rest of Europe? Pretty well if you ask us!
Alpinols CBD oil has excellent analgesic properties, meaning that it works wonders to relieve pain. The oil is left under the tongue for 30-60 seconds and absorbed quickly into the bloodstream. It gets to work within 30 minutes and in my case it provided me with excellent pain relief day in and day out, throughout the duration of our product review.
By taking 20mg of their 1000mg full-spectrum CBD oil immediately after a tough workout in the morning (on an empty stomach), an additional 10mg of CBD at lunchtime and 10mg of CBD just before bedtime, I experienced a substantial reduction of my pain levels, especially in the morning when my hip is usually very stiff and painful. As a full-spectrum CBD oil, this product is up there with some of the best full-spectrum CBD oils we have tested over the last few years.
Alpinols CBD oil allowed me to just simply get on with my day without worrying too much about hip pain or discomfort. I was able to remain active throughout the two weeks and even on days where I increased my physical activity, I was able to perform with little to no discomfort and was also able to stop taking traditional painkillers, which is always a plus in my book.
As a final point, it would be interesting to test a higher concentration products, especially their 40% CBD oil as I have found that my body reacts even better to higher concentration products. It may be that taking 2 drops of a 40% CBD oil offers better absorption than 8 drops of a similar product with a 10% concentration. One for our next review.
A CBD Oil Made for Sweet Dreams!
When it comes to sleep, Alpinols CBD oil worked incredibly well. By taking 10mg just before bedtime, I managed to fall asleep quickly and more importantly to stay asleep throughout the night. Yet, unlike traditional sleeping pills that may leave you feeling groggy and unwell the next day, Alpinols CBD oil makes you feel rested and full of energy!
So how does Alpinols CBD help improve sleep?
CBD is known to interact with specific receptors, specifically the CB1R and CB2R. CB1 receptors co-ordinate mood, emotion, appetite, and other functions. While CB2 receptors are responsible for controlling inflammation and pain. CBD stimulates these receptors and induces the body to release serotonin. Serotonin, or 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter that carries signals from one neuron to the other. CBD increases the level of serotonin, which, in return, helps relieve stress or anxiety and improve sleep.
This is backed by a 2019 study involving 72 patients experiencing anxiety and poor sleep. After taking 25mg of CBD (administered via capsules) daily, over 79% percent of patients reported lower anxiety levels and 67% experienced better sleep.
So if your insomnia or poor sleep are caused by stress or anxiety, I would highly recommend you check out Alpinols CBD.
Positive Reviews
Reading the reviews available on their website, it would appear as though some of their customers did experience positive health benefits by using their CBD oil. The main benefits that seem to come back in their reviews include:
- Asthma & Chronic Cough: One of their customers who has been diagnosed with Asthma started using Alpinols 15% CBD oil (60mg daily) to treat a chronic cough that he had experienced for two years instead of using a steroid inhaler. They go to report that since taking their CBD oil, they have stopped using the inhaler and their cough has stopped completely.
- CBD for Sleep: Some of their customers suffering from anxiety and stress have reported better sleep after using their CBD oil.
- CBD for Arthritis: Some of the reviews talk about the benefits of CBD when it comes to managing the inflammation and pain linked to OA (Osteoarthritis) and RA (Rheumatoid Arthritis)
Taste (9/10)
Whilst the most popular way to consume CBD is by using CBD tincture (oil), they often have a more earthy, nutty, woody or grass-like taste which is down to the fact the product is natural, safe, and non-toxic.
Not only is Alpinols CBD the only CBD oil on the market to be made 100% in Switzerland, but it is also one of the only CBD brands we have reviewed to use organic sunflower seed oil as a carrier. So how did that affect the taste of their CBD oil?
Taste: Outstanding Flavour Profile
When trying to assess the flavour profile of a CBD oil, it is often useful to look at the colour of the oil as it is often an indicator of how strong the oil actually is – the darker the oil, the stronger the taste.
At first glance, Alpinols 10% CBD oil is quite yellow in comparison to other oils, which is probably down to the fact that it uses organic sunflower seed oil instead of MCT or olive oil. From a consistency standpoint, their full-spectrum CBD seems slightly more oily than other products we’ve tried and tested, so it will feel a little different in your mouth.
The first thing you will notice when taking their CBD oil is that it has a very mild flavour profile. The taste of hemp is not too overpowering and we mainly got a nutty flavour coming from the sunflower seed oil as well as citruses and zesty notes.
We can only assume that this very unexpected and pleasant flavour profile is a result of their hemp plants that are cultivated according to Bio Suisse certified methods and the use of organic sunflower seed oil as a carrier.
All in all this is a great tasting CBD oil, especially since this is a full-spectrum products which has all the cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and plant waxes.
As a matter of fact, we are not the only one to think they’ve done an outstanding job here and found a couple of official reviews touching on how good this CBD oil is. Well done Alpinols!
Sunflower seed oil was a surprise!
“Great product, I believe the best I’ve tried so far. It’s very natural, with a mild flavour. I’ve never tried something with sunflower seed oil as carrier oil and I was positively surprised.” – Christina
Broad-Spectrum & Water-Soluble Oils
We personally think that CBD oil is the best way to consume CBD as it gets absorbed quickly into the bloodstream in comparison to other products such as CBD capsules or gummies, which have to go through the digestive track.
However, if you don’t like the taste of hemp, even a with a full-spectrum CBD oil as mild as Alpinols, then you’ll be pleased to know that all their oils are also available in:
- Broad-spectrum CBD: their broad-spectrum CBD oils go through an additional refinement process which removes the unwanted THC, waxes, and chlorophyll. By removing the waxes and chlorophyll, the oil is even more palatable than their full-spectrum products.
- Water-soluble CBD: Their water soluble CBD oil uses a patented formula to ensure that the CBD drops can be dissolved in all liquids without any problems. They are available as both full and broad-spectrum and can be mixed to any beverage.
Value for Money (7/10)
Not only do we think that Alpinols has developed a CBD oil that is efficient and great tasting, but they’ve also sensibly priced their products which makes them great value for money.
A person between 150 and 240 lbs may need between 20mg and 40mg of CBD per day depending on the severity of their symptoms. A 10ml bottle of their 10% CBD oil (retail: £52.00) will therefore last between 25 and 50 days and cost between £1.04 and £2.08 per day, which is quite reasonably priced when compared to other CBD brands in our Top 10.
So heavy CBD users will need to place an order every month, whilst mild users may be able to push this to 2 months.
Based on 20mg of CBD per day, here’s how the Top CBD brands reviewed by our team stack-up:

Product Range (7/10)
As a Swiss CBD brand, Alpinols have develop an interesting range of products, by focusing primarily on full and broad-spectrum oils, but also by adding new product lines such as water soluble CBD or CBD oil for pets. More recently they launched a range of CBD topicals and cosmetics.
Alpinols CBD Oils
As a Swiss CBD brand, Alpinols have had to adapt to the regulations of the Swiss market as well as the needs of consumers across Europe. For instance, Alpinols Original CBD oil contains less than 1% THC in Switzerland but the same product sold to the rest of the EU has less than 0.2% THC to comply with EU regulations.
Full and Broad-Spectrum CBD Oils
Alpinols offers one of the widest ranges of products when it comes to their CBD oils. For their 10ml bottles, you will have the choice between broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD oils in strength varying from 5% to 40%.
Strength | CBD Type | Price |
500mg (5%) | FS | £30.00 |
1000mg (10%) | FS | £52.00 |

1000mg (10%) | BS | £60.00 |
1500mg (15%) | BS | £85.00 |
2000mg (20%) | BS | £109.00 |
2500mg (25%) | BS | £133.00 |
*FS (Full-Spectrum) and BS (Broad-Spectrum)
Alpinols 5% full-spectrum CBD oil retails at £30.00 (£0.06 per mg of CBD), Alpinols 10% full-spectrum CBD oil at £52.00 (£0.052 per mg of CBD) and Alpinols 40% full-spectrum CBD oil at £159.00 (£0.039 per mg of CBD).
When comparing the price and strength of their CBD oils, going for a higher potency works out cheaper in the long run as a person using 20g of CBD per day will spend £1.20 per day using their 500mg CBD oil and £0.79 per day when using their 2500mg oil, a saving of 34% when going for the higher potency oil.
Special Editions Available
It’s also worth noting that Alpinols has launched two special editions of their CBD oil, by collaborating with Im Gegenteil and Tommy Chong (Discontinued).
Im Gegenteil is an online magazine for love, dating, emotions, sex, sustainability and period pains that was launched by best friends Anni and Jule. They are so convinced about the benefit of organic CBD oil that they have launched the Deine Tage 12% CBD oil in partnership with Alpinols.
But our favourite collab has to be Alpinols x Tommy Chong CBD Oil. Tommy Chong is a Canadian-American actor, writer, director, musician, cannabis rights activist and comedian. He is known for his marijuana-themed Cheech & Chong comedy albums and movies with Cheech Marin, as well as playing the character Leo on Fox’s That ’70s Show. He partnered with Alpinols to launch the Legend CBD oil, available in 10% and 30% concentration. Unfortunately, the Tommy Chong product line has now been discontinued.
Edition | CBD % | Price |
Im Gegenteil* | 12% | £72.00 |
* Broad-spectrum CBD oil.
Water Soluble CBD Oil
Finally, Alpinols launched “Aqua”, a water soluble CBD oil which uses a patented formula to ensure than the CBD drops can be dissolved in all liquids without any problems. These water soluble CBD drops are great for those who cannot stand the taste of hemp or do not like flavoured CBD oils, and find it easier to consume CBD oil when mixed to a beverage.
They offer their water soluble CBD drops as either broad-spectrum or full-spectrum (Tommy Chong edition).
Edition | Type | Price |
Aqua (Original) | BS* | £35.00 |
Aqua (Tommy Chong) | FS* | £52.00 |
* (BS) Broad-spectrum / (FS) Full-spectrum.
The water-soluble CBD oils from Alpinols are based on a patented micelle technology, which has two main benefits. As the oily particles of the CBD are coated with a fine layer, it protects the integrity of the CBD when dissolved in any liquid (which is not the case with standard CBD oil) and it is highly bioavailable.
One of the main advantages of high bioavailability is the fact that it is absorbed faster by the body and can therefore enter the enter the bloodstream and act quickly. According to Alpinols, the water soluble CBD is up to 5 times more effective than conventional CBD oil.
Why use water-soluble CBD?
✓ perfect alternative to CBD oil
✓ 5x more effective
✓ perfect for beginners
✓ 100% organic cultivation
✓ 100% Swiss made

Lab Testing (10/10)
As a CBD company, Alpinols CBD plays the transparency card with their customers.
Since many CBD products contain pesticides, herbicides, mould, fungi and dangerous mycotoxins, Alpinols are working closely with CBD-test.ch, the first laboratory in Switzerland to specialise exclusively in cannabis products.
In addition to being sourced and extracted from the highest-grade certified Bio-Swiss hemp, they guarantee that their products are 100% organic and free of synthetic ingredients.
They allow customers to see their Certificates of Analysis online for each product line available on their site. Each lab report then breaks down the potency of cannabinoids, the presence of terpenes and flavonoids, but they do not show the absence of heavy metals, mycotoxins, pesticides or microbes.
Below is an example of their certificate of analysis for their 10% CBD oil.
Farming (Swiss Hemp)
Unlike other CBD companies who rely on hemp farmers in Europe or the US, Alpinols has more than 15 years of experience in cannabis cultivation – and over 25 years experience in organic farming – as they grow their own hemp.
By being in control of the entire process, from seed to oil, it gives Alpinols more control over the quality of their products.
They harvest every leaf by hand, use no foreign substances whatsoever and analyse their products both in-house and with an independent laboratory (CBD-test.ch) to guarantee the consistency, transparency and quality of their CBD products.
Why Swiss (EU) hemp?
Hemp requires around 20-30 inches of rainfall during it’s growing season, either from rainfalls or via modern irrigation methods, and whilst the plant is largely unaffected by low temperatures and can even withstand frost down to -5°C, the ideal growing temperatures for good quality hemp are between 19-25°C.
Europe is a big producer of hemp with France leading the charge, followed by Italy and the Netherlands. Switzerland is also a growing producer of hemp, especially in the recent years.
Outside of Europe, the US is a large producer of hemp with Montana, Colorado, Kentucky, North Carolina and Oregon being the 5 largest producers in the country. These five states are important location for hemp farming as they have the right regulations to grow hemp and the perfect climate.
For all these reasons, it makes the Switzerland a great place for Alpinols CBD to grow their hemp from.
Hemp Preparation & Extraction
Once the plants have been harvested they are stored in a warehouse and left to dry. The dry hemp is then turned into a coarse powder – similar to coffee grounds – through a milling process which follows the strict standards of the hemp farming industry.
At that point, the hemp powder is transferred to the manufacturing and processing facility where it is needs to go through an extraction and purification process in order to remove all unwanted compounds and which produce a high-quality hemp extract which can then be used in oils, capsules, gummies and other CBD products.
Unlike many CBD products available on the market that use hemp produced at an industrial rate under very high temperatures to speed up the extraction process, but which ultimately degrades the quality of the CBD extract, Alpinols CBD’s production method are clean and efficient as they use supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) as an extraction method. This is similar to most of the brands in our top 10.
CO2 extraction (known as supercritical CO2 extraction) seems to be the gold-standard method of extraction in the industry. It uses carbon dioxide (CO2) and a series of pressurized chambers to expose the CO2 to high pressure and low temperatures. By holding the CO2 at a specific temperature and pressure which is above its standard critical state, it becomes liquid and acts as a solvent.
This method presents many advantages:
- Safe for human consumption
- CBD molecules are preserved
- Environmentally friendly
- CO2 extraction is sustainable
Testing
Many products on the market contain pesticides, herbicides, mould, fungi and dangerous mycotoxins and for these reasons, Alpinols products go through a rigorous process to ensure they are tested for quality and potency. To do so, they use cutting-edge testing equipment and work with both their internal lab and CBD-test.ch, the first laboratory in Switzerland to specialise exclusively in cannabis product.
The tests carried out focus on various dimensions to guarantee the quality and safety of each batch.
- Over 200 different pesticides
- Heavy Metals like Arsenic, Lead, or Mercury
- Aflatoxins and Mycotoxins
- Terpenes
- Microbes

The company has over 200 verified reviews on Trustpilot, with an average rating of 4.8 out of 5, making it a trusted CBD brand. Below are some of their latest customer reviews.
Been using it for chronic atopic dermatitis, eczema and the results are there. I have been using 4 to 8 drops once a day, and it helps with recurrence of eczema episodes. The cosmetic creams also are very well tolerated which is a first for me. I think considering the comments I’ll try increase the dosage to see if it can help stabilize the effect. Definitely would recommend.
I have been using Alpinols CBD 15% oil for 3 weeks . I take 20mg – 3 x a day
I was diagnosed with Asthma a month ago due to a chronic cough that I have had for 2 years . I was given a steroid inhaler to take to stop the cough and use when I needed. Since taking the Alpinol Cbd oil I have stopped using the inhaler and my cough has stopped completely . I had read that cbd could help asthma symptoms , and this has certainly helped mine ! The Doctor called me yesterday to see how I was getting on with my Inhaler , I was pleased to tell her that I had stopped using it and my chronic cough gone thanks to cbd.

Alpinols CBD Review: The Verdict
Despite Alpinols being a fairly unknown brand in the UK, they have gained a great reputation in Switzerland and the rest of Europe. The quality of their customer reviews is a testament to how good their products are and as the first Swiss CBD brand to own the entire process – from seed to soil – and to use organic sunflower seed oil as a carrier, we would highly recommend giving their full or broad-spectrum CBD a go.
Not only do their CBD oils taste great (even their full-spectrum oil), but we found them to be incredibly efficient to treat pain, inflammation and to improve overall sleep by reducing stress and anxiety.
