10 Cheapest CBD Oils UK

Looking for cheap CBD oil? Whilst CBD oil can be expensive, a great tip is to look at the price per mg of CBD or the price per day, not the price of a bottle. In this guide (UPDATED 2022), we tell you all about how and where to find the cheapest CBD oils in the UK.

10 Cheapest CBD Oils UK

Finding a cheap CBD oil is easy, but finding a good quality and affordable CBD oil can be an absolute nightmare as it can be difficult to compare products containing different amount of liquid per bottle (10ml vs 30ml) and in different concentrations (5% vs 20%).

In other words, would you be more likely to buy a 30ml bottle containing 1000mg of CBD and costing £49.99 or a 10ml bottle containing 2000mg of CBD and retailing at £69.99? Many first-time CBD users would go for the £49.99 bottle thinking it is cheaper.

However, when comparing the price per mg, you’ll quickly realise that buying the cheaper £49.99 bottle will cost you £0.049 per mg of CBD, whilst buying the seemingly more expensive £69.99 bottle will only cost you £0.034 per mg of CBD, a saving of  30%!

So next time you buy CBD oil, why not focus on the price per mg or the cost per day based on your daily CBD requirement, as opposed to only looking at the price of a bottle?

Health Benefits of CBD Oil

The human body contains a specialized system called the ECS (the endocannabinoid system), which aim is to regulate a variety of functions such as sleep, appetite, pain and immune system response. The body also produces endocannabinoids, which are simply neurotransmitters that bind to cannabinoid receptors in your nervous system.

CBD is believed to interact with specific receptors, specifically the CB1R and CB2R.

  • CB1 receptors, which are located in various regions of the body, with a large concentration in the central nervous system and brain, co-ordinate mood, emotion, appetite, and other functions.
  • CB2 receptors are more commonly found in the immune system and are responsible for controlling inflammation and pain. CBD stimulates these receptors and induces the body to release serotonin.

Serotonin, or 5-HT, is a neurotransmitter that carries signals from one neuron to the other. CBD increases the level of serotonin, which, in return, helps reduce pain, reduce inflammation as well as provide a range of other health benefits, including:

  • CBD for Pain Relief: CBD has analgesic (pain relief) properties and can help with many painful conditions such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, headache disorders, back pain or period pain.
  • CBD for Anxiety: CBD has both anti-anxiety and antidepressant properties, and can help people who feel anxious or depressed.
  • CBD for Stress: CBD helps reduce stress and calm both the body and mind, through its interaction with both the Hippocampus and the Amygdala.
  • CBD for Cancer: CBD helps relieve some of the symptoms of cancer as well as reduce the side effects of cancer medication such as nausea, vomiting and pain.
  • CBD for Epilepsy: CBD helps reduce the frequency and intensity of seizures in epileptic patients, and may also counteract some of the side effects of traditional anti-epileptic.
  • CBD for Headaches: CBD reduces the frequency of headaches as well as reduce stress and improve sleep, two major triggers of headaches. But CBD also has strong analgesic (pain relief) and antiemetic (prevent vomiting) properties which can help people with headache disorders during an attack.
  • CBD for Arthritis: CBD has antiarthritic, analgesic (pain relief) as well as anti-inflammatory properties and as such is a great option for people suffering from arthritis.
  • CBD for Sleep: CBD has a calming effect on both the mind and the body, allowing people to fall asleep more easily and stay asleep throughout the night.

Please note: The views and opinions in this guide to the cheapest CBD oils in the UK is based on perspective of the CBD Unboxed team and people who have used CBD oils. Everyone’s experience with CBD products is different and we would always advise doing more research and speaking to your health practitioner before using CBD products.

3 Types of Cheap CBD Oils

With hundreds of products on the market, it can be difficult to find a cheap and good quality CBD oil. This is why the CBD Unboxed team has tested over 100 CBD oils and picked the 10 cheapest CBD oils in the UK. We’ve selected products across three different categories to suit every need:

+ Full Spectrum CBD Oils: Full-spectrum CBD oils contain all the natural hemp extracts such as Cannabidiol (CBD), CBG (Cannabigerol), CBC (Cannabichromene) and CBT (Cannabicitran), as well as the naturally-occurring terpenes, flavonoids, and Omega acids. They also contain trace amounts of THC, but under the UK limit of 0.2%, meaning they won’t get you high. If you are taking regular drug tests at work or because you are an athlete, full-spectrum oils may not be ideal. Although very rare, trace amounts of THC could show up when being tested leading to you losing your job, being banned or disqualified form your sport / competition. Should this be the case, we would recommend THC-free CBD oils.

+ THC-Free CBD Oils: CBD oils using broad-spectrum CBD, CBD distillate or CBD isolate are 100% THC free and the perfect option for those who would prefer not to consume any THC.

+ CBD+CBG Oils (THC Free): CBG (Cannabigerol) is known as “The Mother of all Cannabinoids” and is the parent molecule to almost all cannabinoids found in the body. CBG is one of the most essential cannabinoids contained in the hemp plant and is usually converted into other cannabinoids, but CBD companies have now found a way to extract CBG before it goes through this conversion process. CBG works by binding to both the CB1 & CB2 receptors where it’s thought to strengthen the function of anandamide, a neurotransmitter that plays a role in managing pain, reducing stress and anxiety as well as regulating sleep.

Looking for a cheap CBD oil? Next time you buy CBD oil, do not focus on the price of a CBD bottle, but instead look at the cost per mg of CBD or the cost per day based on your daily CBD requirement. This will completely change the way you look at CBD pricing and will help you find the cheapest CBD oils in the market.

10 Cheap CBD Oils in the UK

Now that you understand the health benefits of CBD oil and why you should focus on the price per mg or the cost per day and not the price of a CBD bottle, let’s see which of our one of the CBD oils we’ve tried and tested is the cheapest!

Our Guide: 20mg of CBD Daily

CBD doesn’t have one-size-fits-all dosing and calculating a proper dosage of CBD can be tough as our bodies react to it differently.

The four major factors affecting your CBD dosage are:

  • Your weight
  • The condition being treated (i.e. depression, chronic pain etc)
  • The severity of your condition
  • The concentration of the CBD capsules

Most brands recommend customers start with the lowest dose and increase until they find the right serving size that fits their needs. The most common starting amount is between 10mg and 25mg. For anxiety and depression, the dose can vary from 20mg to 50mg or more.

As a rule of thumb, a person weighting between 10.5 and 17 stones (approximately 150 and 240 lbs) may need between 20mg and 40mg of CBD per day depending on the severity of their symptoms.

36-68kgs 68-108kgs >108 kgs
Low 10mg 20mg 40mg
Medium 15mg 30mg 50mg
High 20mg 40mg 60mg

* FSA Guideline: The FSA recommends that healthy adults do not take more than 70mg of CBD daily, unless advised by a doctor.

Our Ranking: From £0.60 to £1.60 Per Day

Top Tips to Get Cheap CBD Oil

When buying CBD oil, be sure to follow these top tips to get the cheapest possible deal or the best value for money. Whilst the first tip may sound counter-intuitive, it is one of the best ways of buying CBD oil at a cheaper cost to save money in the long run.

Tip No. 1: Pick a Higher Concentration Oil

CBD oils are often available in different strengths, from 1% to 40% oils, meaning that a 10ml bottle might contain between 100mg to 4000mg of CBD. Below is an example for Provacan CBD oil which comes in 4 different strengths:

CBD (mg) % CBD / Drop*
300mg 3% 1.5mg
600mg 6% 3mg
1200mg 12% 6mg
2400mg 24% 12mg

*Amount of CBD oil per drop = 0.025ml

Their 300mg CBD oil retails at £24.99 (£0.08 per mg of CBD), their 1200mg oil at £69.99 (£0.06 per mg of CBD) and their 2400mg oil at £119.99 (£0.05 per mg of CBD).

When comparing the price and strength of their CBD oils, going for a higher potency works out cheaper in the long run as a person using 20g of CBD per day will spend £1.66 per day using their 3% CBD oil and £1.00 per day when using their 24% oil, a saving of 40% when going for the higher potency oil.

Tip No. 2: Subscribe for Cheaper CBD Oil

If you are likely to use CBD oil on a day to day basis, and plan to buy a new bottle of CBD oil every couple of months, then we’d highly recommend finding a brand that offers a subscription plan as you’ll be able to save an additional 10%-15%.

Provacan has a great subscription plan which gives you 15% Off when you subscribe. So by selecting a higher potency oil and subscribing, you could get more than 50% off the advertised retail price! Now that’s what we call cheap CBD oil.

Four Advantages of CBD Oil for Pain

CBD oil has many advantages over other CBD products such as CBD capsules or CBD gummies.

  • Increased bioavailability – One of the main advantages of CBD oil over other products is the fact that CBD oil increases bioavailability – which means the amount of product that can be directly used by your body is greater wen using CBD oil when compared to edibles such as capsules or gummies.
  • Fast Acting – CBD oil is also more fast-acting than edibles, and the faster the CBD is absorbed, the sooner it can get to work. Gummies and edibles will take some time to be processed and broken down by your digestive system, making oil the fastest way to gain the benefits of CBD. When placed under the tongue, it comes into contact with the sublingual gland which speeds up the process of absorption and quickly enters the bloodstream.
  • Easy to Consume – When taken orally, CBD oil is very easy to consume and it also gives you the ability to use doses of the exact strength required thanks to the individual droplets.
  • No Sugar – When CBD is used in the form of gummies, chocolate or other edible products, it may not be in the best health interests of the person to eat such products. For example, people suffering from diabetes will need to carefully manage the food that they eat, and therefore CBD oil may be a better option.

Does CBD Oil Have Side Effects?

Most people do not experience any side effects when taking CBD as this is a natural product. However, as with everything, some people may experience mild side effects from the hemp extract, including:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Changes in appetite and weight
  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Irritability
  • Drowsiness

The best way to decrease adverse reactions is to simply lower your daily intake of CBD, or to take your oil at the same time as other foods to reduce potential side effects as the CBD will be processed.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

CBD oil is legal in the UK as long as the plant which have been grown contain less than 0.2% of THC, the legal limit in the UK. The reason for this is that THC is known to be a psychotropic substance and limiting the amount of THC ensures that CBD is safe to consume and will not have any psychoactive effects. In other words, CBD won’t get you “high”.

Personal Use

You will not be arrested or fined for buying, consuming or carrying CBD products, anywhere in the UK, as long as it has less than 0.2% THC in it.

What is illegal is to grow the hemp plant(s) yourself, at home. Growth for personal use is strictly prohibited by the Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971. To do so, could result in up to 5 years in prison and/or an unlimited fine.

New Regulations & Guidelines

As CBD is eaten or drunk it falls under “novel foods”, which means that the Food Standards Agency (FSA) oversees CBD products and they can therefore enforce new laws and regulations and they have recently done so.

Since the 31st of March 2021, all CBD products must be approved by the FSA in order to be sold in the UK. Failure to do so will result in the products being removed from the shelf. This request for approval means that the exact ingredients within a CBD will be known, making it safer for the general public.
